Community Programs

Engaging residents to build communities block by block

What We Do - Foundation Programs

Supporting Safer Communities Grant Program

The Supporting Safer Communities Grant Program (SSC Program) will distribute $7.3 million to programs, projects and initiatives that build and strengthen Miami-Dade’s community-based response to gun violence. It will prioritize the best solutions for achieving its goals:

  • Increase available resources to support impacted residents through anti-violence efforts;
  • Increase use of services that address the root causes of violence and help residents live thriving, productive lives; and
  • Mobilize more residents to engage with and amplify violence reduction efforts that build safer and supportive communities across Miami-Dade County.

The program is funded through a collaboration with Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s Community Violence Intervention Initiative (CVI), with unanimous support from the Board of County Commissioners. CVI is a hyper-local, neighborhood-based effort to reduce gun violence and its impact on residents across the county.

Meek Mobilize Grants Program

Funds to mobilize residents and actively impact Miami-Dade’s Black and Brown communities —

The Meek Mobilize Grants Program seeks the best ideas, projects, programs and initiatives that mobilize residents around issues that matter to them and strengthen their community. It’s an effort to unite residents in Opa-locka, Florida City and Liberty City behind critical quality of life causes impacting Miami-Dade’s Black and Brown communities.

We’re looking for projects that . . .

  • Mobilize — We activate residents to help improve the civic health and well-being of their neighborhood.
  • Connect We build block-by-block connections between neighbors around causes they care about.
  • Build We increase access to resources that improve resident and neighborhood quality of life.

The grant program will provide support to nonprofit organizations, faith-based institutions, community groups, business owners, residents and neighborhood champions/activists organizing grassroots community building efforts in Opa-locka, Florida City and Liberty City.

Help us improve the lives of residents in Miami-Dade County and the larger South Florida community.
